Union Organizer (Full Time)

The role of SEIU Nevada Organizer is to build a workers’ organization of motivated, empowered, and mobilized leaders, who strategically act collectively and powerfully to protect the rights and improve the quality of the work lives and the care they provide for the community that is Nevada.
The Union Organizer provides effective leadership to carry out the goals of the Union, through training and leadership development, new organizing, internal and external organizing, and political action. The position description is a guide to the critical duties and essential functions of the job and is not an all- inclusive list of responsibilities, qualifications, physical demands, and work environment conditions.
Staff Attorney (Full Time)
Las Vegas, NV
The Staff Attorney provides legal counsel, representation, and strategic guidance to the organization on matters related to labor law, employment law, collective bargaining, organizing campaigns, grievance handling, arbitration, compliance, and other legal issues affecting the union and its members.
This position works closely with executive leadership, representation, human resources, and outside counsel to protect and advance the interests of the organization and its members. The Staff Attorney supports the union’s mission by providing legal analysis, advocacy, training, and representation in a fast-paced labor relations environment.
The ideal candidate is a strong advocate with excellent legal research, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills who is committed to the labor movement and worker advocacy.
Contract Representative (Full Time)
Las Vegas, NV
Contract Representatives are responsible for providing a broad array of technical and administrative services to local Union officers, members, and organizers in the process of carrying out the representational functions of the Union.
A Contract Representative should have the ability to process grievances at every level, including binding arbitration, file unfair labor practice charges with the NLRB and Nevada EMRB, and negotiate MOUs on behalf of the Union. The representational duties include investigatory meetings, drafting/filing of grievances, resolving workplace issues, advising members, and negotiating/drafting settlement agreements.
In addition, the Representative must develop expert-level knowledge of all SEIU Nevada collective bargaining agreements and applicable federal and state labor laws and maintain effective working relationships with stewards and staff to ensure that contracts are properly enforced on a day-to-day basis.
Canvasser (Part-Time)
Las Vegas, NV
Canvassers support SEIU Local 1107’s organizing, membership growth, political, electoral, and member mobilization programs through direct worker, member, voter, and community contact.
Canvassers conduct door-to-door canvassing, worksite outreach, phone banking, text banking, and one-to-one conversations. Depending on campaign assignment, Canvassers may recruit non- union workers into the union and/or non-members for union membership; communicate with voters regarding endorsed candidates; identify support; recruit volunteers; and mobilize members and voters to take action.
