The SEIU Local 1107 Latino Caucus kicked off 2026 with its first event of the year—a vibrant and family-friendly Kermés Fundraiser rooted in culture, community, and collective purpose.

A Kermés is a traditional community festival commonly held throughout Latin America. Often organized as a fundraiser, a Kermés brings people together through music, food, games, dancing, and activities for all ages. It is designed to be joyful, inclusive, and centered on mutual support—values that strongly reflect the mission of the Latino Caucus.

Members, families, and community partners gathered for an evening filled with energy and connection. The celebration featured a live DJ and dancing, a kids’ craft area, a photo booth, a silent auction, delicious food, and giveaways throughout the night that added to the excitement and sense of appreciation for attendees.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the Latino Caucus piñata, which brought a shared moment of cultural tradition for both kids and adults alike. It was a powerful reminder that fundraising can also be fun by honoring heritage and building community.

The halls dance floor stayed full thanks to music provided by our very own member Richard W., also known as DJ Percalator, who kept the celebration going all night long. We were also proud to be joined by community partners whose presence reinforced the strength of our collective work.
