Today, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1107, Nevada’s largest health care and public service union, representing over 20,000 workers, endorsed Alexis Esparza for Assembly District 1, which covers northern Las Vegas. Esparza, a Las Vegas-raised public servant in the Clark County District Attorney’s office, mom of two, and union leader, has fought for fair wages, better healthcare, and stronger protections for working people.

“Alexis Esparza is a force to be reckoned with and we’re thrilled she’s taking her fight for working Nevadans to the halls of power,” said Michelle Maese, President of SEIU Local 1107. “As a Chief Union Steward and co-founder of the Latino Caucus of SEIU 1107, she has stood up for workers who are essential to Nevada’s economy. We’re proud to endorse her in this race.”

“Alexis has spent her career fighting for—and winning—protections for working-class Nevadans,” said SEIU Executive Director Sam Shaw. “Her experiences as a mother, public servant, and Las Vegas community member motivate her to advocate for her neighbors’ well-being. I know she’ll bring that drive with her to Carson City as she continues to fight for, and win, policies that help working-class Nevadans thrive.”

“I’m proud of SEIU 1107 for championing the early endorsement of our member Alexis Esparza,” said long-time union member and activist, Debbie Springer, Political Chair of SEIU 1107. “Working people in Clark County know that Alexis is a tireless advocate for them, so we’re thrilled to endorse Alexis in this race.

“I’m running for Nevada state assembly because we need more working-class voices in Carson City, where big corporations and the ultra-rich have too much power,” said Esparza. “I know what it’s like to raise kids in Las Vegas and how difficult it can be to put food on the table. I’ll champion policies that help working families not just get by, but get ahead. As a union leader, I’ve advocated for dignity and respect in the workplace, and I’ll continue to bring this fight to the assembly. All working Nevadans deserve to afford the American Dream.”

Alexis Esparza’s platform priorities include:

  • Good jobs and workers’ rights: Raising wages, protecting benefits and pensions, expanding paid leave, ensuring safe staffing for frontline workers, and supporting workers’ unions, so all hardworking Nevadans have access to the middle class.

  • Affordable health care: Lowering prescription drug prices, expanding affordable coverage, investing in mental health and addiction services, supporting community clinics, and ensuring providers have the tools to deliver quality care.

  • Affordable housing: Building more affordable housing, protecting renters from unfair practices, supporting first time homebuyers, and partnering with local governments to turn vacant properties into homes.

  • Lowering the cost of living: Pursuing all avenues to reduce the price of energy bills, groceries, childcare and other basic essentials.

Voters will cast ballots in the Democratic primary on June 9, 2026 and in the general election on November 3, 2026.
