On Monday, July 14th, the National Action Network (NAN) of Las Vegas proudly presented its distinguished “Eagle Award” to Sam Shaw, Executive Director of SEIU Local 1107. This honor recognizes Sam’s unwavering dedication to uplifting working people and building a more just Nevada.
For more than 25 years, Sam has been a relentless advocate for economic and social justice, dedicating his career to organizing working people to secure good union jobs, quality public services, and dignity for all. His commitment to the labor movement includes 17 years of service with SEIU, where he has held key leadership roles and driven impactful campaigns.
Since joining Local 1107 in 2017, Sam’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening the union’s voice and power across Nevada. His work reflects a personal journey shaped by his family’s story: the son of an immigrant mother from Korea who instilled in him a deep respect for hard work and community. This perspective fuels his passion to empower workers from all walks of life.
Receiving the “Eagle Award” is a testament not only to Sam’s accomplishments but to his vision for a future where every Nevadan has the opportunity to thrive. As Sam continues to help lead SEIU Local 1107 to new heights, this recognition by NAN serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of solidarity and the importance of fighting for justice, equity, and respect for all working families.
Congratulations to Sam Shaw on this well-deserved honor!
